ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Joe Madison, “the Black Eagle,” is the host of “The Joe Madison Show” on SiriusXM Urban View Channel 126. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Madison graduated with a B.A. in sociology from Washington University in St. Louis. Joe has spent the past 40 years on the radio encouraging his audience to become politically engaged. According to Talkers Magazine, Joe’s show is ranked among the Top 10 U.S. radio talk shows. In 2019, he was elected to the Radio Hall of Fame, and in 2021 to the National Black Radio Hall of Fame. Joe Madison lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, Sharon.
Dave Canton, director of the African American Studies Program at the University of Florida, is the author of Raymond Pace Alexander: A New Negro Lawyer Fights for Civil Rights. He teaches courses on the Modern Civil Rights Movement, Civil Rights Struggle in the North, History of Hip Hop Music and Culture, and Introduction to African American Studies. He is the host of “The Podcast for Your Punk Ass,” which examines race, sports, history and politics.
